DN1PRM Darkstone

If we were to express the DARKSTONE with one word, we would like to use a word like dignified or magnificent. While it features the traditional set-neck construction with two humbucking pickups, various components were newly designed for this series, and the combination of those contributed to create the unique medieval atmosphere you see here.
The DARKSTONE Showcase model was based on such an image and taken to the extreme.

Inspired by Steampunk fashion and various textures like gravestone or obsidian, at the brainstorming stage, the ideas on the table were still broad. Then, it was narrowed down to create the final image.

The most eye-catching part is the ornament in the shape of vine, covering half of the body top. It’s made of aluminum, and this side of the body is recessed from the other half so your hand won’t be interrupted and lessens any added weight. The vine pattern was designed to match and to emphasize the body outline, and the shimmering surface changes depending on the light.

The same vine pattern is also pinstriped on the body back while retaining a flat feel so as to not disturb the playing comfort.

Aside from the vine ornament, other metal decorations were hand-milled from 3 mm thick aluminum plate. The blade, like a medieval knife, centered on the body, the frame outlining the headstock and the truss rod cover are all also designed under the same cultural influence. All were handmade.

Part of fingerboard inlay, the top of the control knobs and the pickup selector, are all made of red crystal.

The PP1 pickups and the Tight End bridge and tailpiece are the same as regular catalog models.

The Show Case Model is not for sale, but it doesn’t mean you won’t have a chance to visually enjoy it. If you do, enjoy the guitar not just as an instrument but as a work of art and architecture.
