Bands using seven or even eight string guitars are ruling the world of heavy rock today, and the most commonly used brand amongst them is Ibanez. The reason is simple. Only Ibanez produces truly high quality instruments that can satisfy the uncompromising musicians and can easily endure the heavy workload the pros put them through every night on tour.

It all began in 1990. Collaborating with Steve Vai, we launched the first 7-string Universe, which propelled Ibanez as the leader in electric 7-string guitar production. However, it wasn't until a few years later that the instrument's possibilities truly began to be explored by a wide range of players, thanks to the explosion of the alternative metal scene.

Since then, Ibanez 7-string guitars have been favored by a number of heavy rock and metal giants, such as Korn and Dino Cazares (Fear Factory). It wasn’t long after the explosion of the 7 string that the groundbreaking Ibanez 8-string guitar was made available to the masses. The Ibanez 8-string quickly became the standard for the adventurous player, such as the genre-defining extreme metal monsters, Meshuggah and instrumental prodigy Tosin Abasi of Animals As Leaders.

The roster speaks for itself. Without a doubt, Ibanez is THE 7 & 8 string guitar company. Ibanez is the pioneer as well as the leader in the market, and shows no signs of slowing down. With its experience and expertise, only Ibanez can offer the REAL stuff – the necks that don't feel like baseball bats, pickups that scream and bridges that can handle the low tunings without buzzing. If you are serious about extended range guitars, play Ibanez. There is no other choice.
